The word Kobudo literally means 'old way of war'. It is generally accepted to mean the study and tradition of ancient weapons and in the case of Wong's Dojo specifically ancient Okinawan weapons.
Kancho began Kobudo training in the Matayoshi style and was awarded Shodan before being introduced to Kaicho Takashi Kinjo founder and master of Koburyu Kobukai. Impressed by the power and strength of this style of Kobudo Kancho Wong applied to study under Kaicho Takashi. After several years of continuous training Kaicho Takashi accepted Kancho Wong as his student.
Kancho Wong became Kaicho Takashi Kinjo's Australian representative for Koburyu Kobudo Kobukai.
When visiting Okinawa in August 2008 whilst on one of his many visits to train and participate in Okinawan Karate and Kobudo events and functions he was awarded Kyudan, 9th dan, by Kaicho Takashi Kinjo at the Koburyu hombu dojo in Naha City.
